Welcome to Singapore Coins and Notes Museum
Whether you are a numismatist or a person that is simply fascinated with coins and bills, you will surely find it interesting in Singapore Coins and Notes Museum.
Singapore Coins and Notes Museum is the country’s only art gallery exclusively intended for currency exhibition. Visitors experience the feeling of going back in time with the intimate but novel displays. Exhibits include the earliest Singapore coins and notes used for trading goods and services to the most recent cutting-edge polymer notes.
SCNM is divided into two levels. The first level is exclusively intended for pre- and post-Independence Singapore. Visitors can learn more information about how foreign coins and notes helped develop Singapore currency, which was of vital importance during the country’s early nation building days.
On the second level is the interactive gallery. In this hands-on area, visitors can come into contact with the common metals used in manufacturing coins, including gold and silver. They can also try their hands at creating coin rubbings, which can be brought home as keepsakes. Aside from that, there is also a special section dedicated to the unusual ways wherein coins and notes are used for other purposes, such as weddings and ornamentation.
Other than Singapore currency, SCNM also features coins from 18 countries, including Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Brazil.
